Iron ore prices in China moved downwards during the month of March, shifting from an uptrend in February, as stated in a new report issued by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA).
At the end of March this year, the China Iron Ore Price Index (CIOPI) stood at 235.02 points, down 38.63 points or 14.12 percent compared to the end of February. In particular, the domestic production iron ore price index stood at 232.03 points, decreasing by 11.07 points or 4.55 percent month on month, while the import iron ore price index stood at 235.47 points, declining by 42.8 points or 15.38 percent month on month.
For the whole of March, the average China Iron Ore Price Index (CIOPI) was at 250.5 points, down 15.13 points or 5.7 percent month on month. In particular, the average domestic production iron ore price index was at 238.81 points, up by a slight margin of 0.09 points or 0.04 percent, while the average import iron ore price index stood at 252.26 points, declining by 17.44 points or 6.47 percent, both month on month.
