Chinese steelmaker Chongqing Iron and Steel Group (Chongqing Steel) has announced that in 2011 its crude steel output reached 6.0299 million mt, up 32.24 percent year on year, while its finished steel output totaled 5.7301 million mt, up 34.28 percent year on year. Meanwhile, Chongqing Steel's annual shipbuilding steel output in 2011 ranked second in China, increasing to a record annual volume of 2.08 million mt.
In 2010, Chongqing Steel's shipbuilding steel output had also ranked second in China, at 1.71 million mt, up 80 percent year on year.
In recent years, Chongqing Steel has continued to focus on constructing a
production base for shipbuilding steel. In addition to its 2,700 mm
shipbuilding plate line, Chongqing Steel has also constructed a new wide and heavy plate
production line to produce 4,100 mm
shipbuilding plate with an annual output capacity of 2 million mt.
