In 2007, China's steel production volume remained on a strong uptrend, seeing a considerable year-on-year growth in all major production groups. The country's crude steel output increased to 48.924 million mt - up 15.7 percent, while its finished steel production rose to 56.460 million mt - up 15.2 percent, compared to 2006.
Meanwhile, also in 2007, the country's pig iron output soared to 46.944 million mt - up 15.2 percent, its coke output rose to 32.894 million mt - up 16.3 percent, ferroalloy production climbed to 17.467 million mt - up 22.2 percent, while wire rod output reached 8.038 million mt - up 13.8 percent year on year.
