Chinese investment in Latin America surges in 2010

The United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) has announced that foreign direct investment in Latin America in 2010 totaled $113 billion, up 40 percent year on year. Nine percent ($10.17 billion) of this investment total came from China, indicating a strong increase compared with $8.14 billion in 2009.

The ECLAC also added that Chinese investment in Latin America is expected to rise by 25 percent year on year in 2011.
