Wholesale passenger vehicle sales in China in December last year are expected to total 2.16 million units, down one percent year on year, while up 6.3 percent month on month as consumers have been more willing to buy amid promotional campaigns ahead of the Chinese New Year holiday, as announced by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). Nevertheless, the sales in December were not as good as market analysts had been expecting, the CPCA indicated.

In 2019, wholesale passenger vehicle sales in China amounted to 21.1 million units, down 9.3 percent year on year, according to preliminary information.

Cui Dongshu, secretary of the CPCA, stated that wholesale passenger vehicle sales in China in 2019 did not reach the expected levels.
