China’s steel plate imports down 20.1 percent in November

In November this year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate, and steel pipes and hollow sections amounted to 90,000 mt, 20,000 mt, 760,000 mt, and 20,000 mt, down 7.6 percent, 29.2 percent, 20.1 percent, and 29.2 percent, respectively, year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities. In the January-November period of the current year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate, and steel pipes and hollow sections amounted to 970,000 mt, 330,000 mt, 9.76 million mt, and 330,000 mt, decreasing by 11.4 percent, 14.8 percent, 11.8 percent and 14.8 percent, respectively, year on year.

In November this year, China imported 920,000 mt of finished steel, down 18.8 percent year on year, while the finished steel import volume in the January-November period of the current year totaled 11.60 million mt, down 12.3 percent year on year, as previously announced by Chinese customs.
