China’s steel exports up 0.7 percent in January-October

In the January-October period of the current year, China’s apparent crude steel consumption moved up by 0.7 percent to 587 million mt, while the country’s crude steel output increased by 0.7 percent to 673 million mt, both year on year, according to the China report from the World Steel Association (worldsteel). 
 
In the given period, China’s steel product imports decreased by 2.1 percent year on year to 10.9 million mt, and its steel exports showed an increase of 0.7 percent to 92.7 million mt, while its net steel exports accounted for 12.7 percent of its crude steel output in the same period. 
 
Meanwhile, in the first ten months this year, China’s iron ore imports increased by 8.9 percent year on year to 843 million mt. In the January-October period, the country’s iron ore output amounted to 1.06 billion mt, down 3.2 percent year on year.
