China’s steel export details for the first five months
China's overall steel product exports increased 170.8% year on year to 9.37 million tons with $5.91 billion trade value through January – May 2005.
Regarding the long products, the railway steel product exports of the country shrank 45.3% to 22'000 tons. However the rest of the long products saw high increases: large sections rose 141.6% to 264'000 tons, light and medium sections 126% to 64'000 tons, bar products 86.8% to 582'000 tons,
rebar 146.7% to 749'000 tons and
wire rod 135.1% to 1.31 million tons.
Regarding the flat products, the exports of super heavy plates increased 147.9% year on year to 100'000 tons while the exports of heavy
plate increased around 4.5 times to 160'000 tons and medium plates also 4.6 times to 346'000 tons.
Moreover, export quantity of HR sheet increased 120.9% to 126'000 tons, CR sheet 86.7% to 70'000 tons, medium thick & wide strip 6.3 times to 1.45 million tons, HR thin & wide strip 136.9% to 684'000 tons, CR thin & wide strip 128.7% to 265'000 tons, narrow HR strip 3050.8% to 336'000 tons, narrow CR strip 2636.1% to 298'000 tons, plating sheet/strip 296.8% to 464'000 tons and color
coated sheet 173.1% to 37'000 tons. Silicon steel exports fell 4.1% to 36'000 tons.
The exports of both seamless steel pipes and welded steel pipes increased 109.4% and 219.8% to 504'000 tons and 693'000 tons respectively.
