China’s steel bar imports down 8.9 percent in January-November

In November this year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate and steel pipes/hollow profiles amounted to 90,000 mt, 30,000 mt, 880,000 mt and 30,000 mt, down 6.2 percent, 8.3 percent, 6.7 percent and 9.8 percent year on year, respectively, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities.

In the January-November period of the current year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, and angles/channels respectively amounted to 1.01 million mt and 320,000 mt, down 8.9 percent and 10.7 percent year on year, while its imports of steel plate and steel pipes/hollow profiles totaled 10.25 million mt and 380,000 mt, up 2.0 percent and 0.2 percent year on year.

As previously reported by SteelOrbis, in November China imported 1.06 million mt of finished steel, decreasing by 7.3 percent year on year. In the January-November period of this year, China imported 12.16 million mt of finished steel, up 0.5 percent year on year.
