China’s scrap exports decline by 85.2 percent in 2018

In December last year, China exported 298 mt of steel scrap, down 99.8 percent year on year, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities. 

In 2018, China exported 332,343 mt of scrap, declining by 85.2 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, China imported 20,000 mt of scrap in December last year, down 49.6 percent year on year. In the full year, China's scrap imports totaled 1.34 million mt, decreasing by 42.2 percent year on year.
