China's PPI down 2.8 percent in May

In May this year, China's producer price index (PPI) decreased by 2.8 percent year on year and was up 0.5 percent month on month, according to data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on June 9. Meanwhile, in May Chinese industrial producers' purchase prices were down 3.8 percent year on year and increased by 0.6 percent compared to April. 
As for the average price index in the January-May period of the current year, China's producer price index (PPI) decreased by 4.1 percent year on year, while Chinese industrial producers' purchase prices were down 5.1 percent year on year.

In May this year, the PPI for capital goods decreased by 3.7 percent year on year. Specifically, in May the PPI for the domestic raw material industry was down 7.2 percent, while the index for the processing industry declined by 1.8 percent, both year on year.
