China's Ministry of Railways to invest RMB 745.5 billion in 2011

China's Ministry of Railways (MOR) has stated it will invest a total of RMB 745.5 billion ($107.4 billion) in the current year, with RMB 600 billion ($92.02 billion) to be spent on infrastructure construction.

The ministry's development objectives for China's 12th five-year plan period (2011-15) are as follows:
1.      30,000 kilometers of new railway lines are to be built in China
2.      The total railway line mileage in operation in China will increase
from the current 91,000 km to about 120,000 km by the end of the twelfth five-year plan period. Of the latter figure, 45,000 km will consist of railways for express trains, and 50,000 km will be located in the western region of the country.
