Italian plantmaker Danieli has announced that Chinese steel producer Maanshan Iron and Steel (Masteel) has commissioned new bloom and billet casters at its plant in Maanshan.

The four-strand bloom caster will produce quality rounds ranging from 600 mm to 1,200 mm in diameter, mainly for the energy industry, while the eight-strand billet caster will produce quality 220 mm square billets and up to 250 mm round billets.

These are the fifth and sixth long-product caster projects carried out by Danieli for Masteel since 2000. Presently, Masteel can annually produce up to 6.8 million mt of continuously cast long products with its Danieli casters.
