China’s Jan-April steel products exports up

The planned export oriented production of 37 companies in China increased 51.2% year on year to 2.34 million tons in the first four months of 2005. Actual delivery quantity during the same period increased 32.06% year on year to reach 1.89 million tons. Among the products exported were 1.11 million tons of shipbuilding plate, 242'300 tons of medium plate, 75'300 tons of hot rolled sheet/coil, and 310'500 tons of wire rod. Companies that posted year-on-year increases in delivery quantity include Baosteel, Wuhan Steel, Taiyuan Steel, Maanshan Steel, Benxi Steel, Handan Steel, Chongqing Steel, Nanjing Steel, Hangzhou Steel, Anyang Steel, Shagang, Valin Steel, Guangzhou Steel, Dalian Steel, Xingcheng, Suzhou Steel, and Xingtai Steel. The top ten steelmakers in terms of delivery quantity are Anshan Steel (457'000 tons), Guangzhou Steel (357'300 tons), Baosteel (270'000 tons), Benxi Steel (132'400 tons), Wuhan Steel (166'200 tons), Xingtai Steel (85'000 tons), Handan Steel (68'400 tons), Hangzhou Steel (50'000 tons), Maanshan Steel (49'500 tons) and Chongqing Steel (37'900 tons).
