China’s iron ore imports increase by 2.2 percent in 2015

In December last year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate amounted to 96.27 million mt, up 17.2 percent month on month and decreasing by 10.85 percent year on year, while in the whole of 2015 China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate totaled 952.72  million mt, up 2.2 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on January 13.

In December last year, China imported 1.18 million mt of finished steel, down 28.3 percent month on month and decreasing by 2.5 percent year on year. In 2015, China’s imports of finished steel totaled 12.78 million mt, declining by 11.4 percent year on year.
