In October, China exported 4.98 million mt of finished steel, the lowest monthly export volume since March 2014, while the average export price was $798.84/mt, the highest export price level since February 2014, as announced by China Iron and Steel Association (CISA).

Meanwhile, in the January-October period of this year, China exported 6.4488 million mt of finished steel, down 30.4 percent year on year, with a total export value amounting to $45.195 billion, down 0.3 percent year on year, while the average export price for the period was $700.83/mt, up by $211.08/mt or 43.1 percent year on year.

Gu Jianguo, deputy chairman of the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), stated that the big declines in the finished steel export volume did not cause decreases in export revenues, while adding that the big rises in average export prices indicated that the structure and quality of China’s finished steel exports have improved.
