On November 17, Wang Xianzheng, head of China National Coal Association (CNCA) said that within the 12th five-year development period, China's total coal consumption will increase up to 3.8 billion mt.
Speaking at the 2010 Coal Entrepreneur Forum, Wang Xianzheng said that by 2015, China's total demand for coal is expected to reach 3.8 billion mt, rising by 800 million mt as compared to 2009.
According to current estimates, China has a coal reserve of 5 trillion mt. The amount of proved reserves of coal accounts for 94 percent of all Chinese primary energy resources. So coal is the principal source for Chinese energy industry.
In 2015, coal is expected to account for 64 percent of China's primary energy resources consumption. Wang Xianzheng said that in the coming years, the proportion of coal consumption in total primary energy consumption will drop, while the total consumption volume will increase.
