China is seeking an alliance with the European Union against US trade policies, ahead of a Sino-European summit in Beijing on July 16-17, according to a Reuters report.
While China is proposing to join forces with the EU at the World Trade Organization, the EU is reportedly rejecting the offer to become allies. Reuters has quoted EU officials as saying that “the summit is expected to produce a modest communique which affirms the commitment of both sides to the multilateral trading system and promises to set up a working group on modernizing the WTO”.
Meanwhile, China is ready to discuss which industries can be opened for European investment, Vice Premier Liu He has said privately, according to Reuters.
