DeWitt, Michigan-based Capital Steel & Wire announced Wednesday that the company’s founder and president, Dustin Preston, passed away on Saturday at Sparrow Hospital after suffering an aneurysm in Florida earlier this month. He was 43.
Preston and his wife founded Capital Steel & Wire in 2001, and the company received many awards such as a listing on the Hot 500 Fastest Growing Companies in America by Entrepreneur Magazine, the Greater Lansing Entrepreneur Award for Distribution, and one of the Top Michigan 50 Companies to Watch in 2009. Preston was also chairman of the DeWitt Downtown Development Authority, as well as chairman of the Capital Area Manufacturing Council.
