Canadian Stelco Inc. initiates strategic review

Canada's largest and financially troubled steel producer Stelco Inc. initiated a strategic review for the purpose to streamline and strengthen its core integrated steelmaking operations to effect a strong growth and financial structure. Also, review will concentrate on better productivity and competitiveness at its steel works. Under the framework of the strategic review, alternate financial resources will be searched; feasibility of products, costs and company structure and assets will be reviewed in order to classify as core and non-core assets and divest the latter. Added to that revamp process of its hot strip mill at Lake Erie and construction of new pickling line will sped up.
