BSP reports strong financial results

Steel Authority of India Limited's largest unit Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) reported a net profit of Rupees 27.8 billion (around $604 million) and a total turnover of Rupees 112 billion (around $2.4 billion) for 2005/2006 fiscal year. BSP recorded strong financial results, despite fluctuating supplies of imported hard coking coal, sharp rise in input prices and steep hike in demurrage rates. BSP produced 5.2 million metric tons of hot metal, 5.1 million tons of crude steel and 4.3 million metric tons of saleable steel in the aforementioned period.
