In March this year, the output volume of Great Britain's
construction industry increased by 3.9 percent month on month and by 1.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year following month-on-month falls seen in January and February this year, according to a report released by the UK-based Office for National Statistics (ONS).
In the January-March period of this year, Great Britain’s
construction output decreased by one percent compared to the last quarter of 2014 and was down by 0.3 percent year on year, constituting the first year-on-year decline since the second quarter of 2013.
New
construction orders in Great Britain in the first quarter fell by 1.7 percent compared to the previous quarter, the largest quarter-on-quarter fall since the first quarter of 2013, mainly due to the large decline recorded in January. In the first quarter, total new housing orders declined by 3.4 percent, with public new housing orders decreasing by 6.6 percent and private new housing orders moving down by 3.0 percent, all quarter on quarter.
