Brazil's national statistics agency (IBGE) reported Wednesday that industrial production in Brazil rose 0.5 percent in July compared to a 1.2 percent decline in June. Industrial production was also down 0.3 percent between July 2011 and July 2010.

Brazil is currently undergoing a number of economic difficulties that are hindering industrial growth. As one example, consumer prices are up 7.1 percent this year through mid-August while Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff attempts to slow the inflation rate, which has already surpassed 7 percent in August.
