Brazil's national statistics agency announced Tuesday that industrial output in Brazil rose 0.5 percent from February to March, although year-over-year production fell 2.1 percent in March.

Month-over-month industrial output in March is not only down from the 1.9 percent monthly gain in February, but also the 6.9 percent annual increase from February 2010 to February 2011.

Overall industrial output in Brazil has been consistently expanding so far in 2011, however at a slower rate than in 2010. Brazil's economy grew 7.5 percent in 2010.
