Brazil's steel distributors association, Inda, has disclosed that its members' steel sales rose 1.8 percent year on year to around 342,100 mt in July, decreasing by 1.9 percent compared to June. In the January-July period of the current year, steel sales of Brazilian distributors rose by 2.8 percent on year-on-year basis.
Distributors' steel stocks stood at around 963,600 mt at the end of July, falling 18.1 percent from a year earlier and down 1.1 percent compared to the end of June this year.
Meanwhile, Inda's distributors purchased around 331,400 mt of steel from steel producers in July, an increase of 10.9 percent from a year earlier and up 3.2 percent month on month.
In July, Brazilian distributors' flat steel imports, including plate, hot rolled, cold rolled, hot galvanized sheet, electro-galvanized sheets, pre-painted plates and galvalume, fell 16.2 percent month on month, to 139,800 metric tons, down 38.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
