BHP Billiton awards Monadelphous $70 million contract

Australian engineering company Monadelphous Group Ltd has secured a $70 million contract with Australian mining giant BHP Billiton Ltd's iron ore division to provide services at the miner's Rapid Growth Project 5 in Western Australia.

According to a statement released by Monadelphous, the contract includes structural, mechanical and piping works for the supply, pre-assembly and installation of the stockyard and train loadout facilities and modifications to the existing Ore Handling Plant 2 (OHP2).

Project work is set to start immediately and is expected to be wrapped up by the third quarter of 2010.
