Benxi-Posco JV commences production

Benxi Steel Posco Cold Rolled Co. Ltd, a joint venture 75 percent-owned by China's Liaoning Province-based Benxi Steel and 25 percent-owned by South Korean producer Posco, has commenced formal production this week.

With a designed annual capacity of 1.97 million mt and 5.5 billion RMB ($726.55 million) in investment, the construction of the joint venture had begun on July 19, 2004. The trial operations at the joint venture's No. 1 continuous hot dip galvanizing line began on October 1, 2006.

This facility has been designed to produce mainly cold rolled and hot dip galvanized sheets for household appliances and automobiles.
