Belon announces Jan-Sept production results

The Russian coal mining company Belon Group (Belon) has issued its production results for the first nine months of 2007.

According to the company's official release, during the period in question Belon increased its coal mining output by 33 percent year on year to 3.313 million metric tons of coal. Of this figure, the production of coking coal totaled 1.398 million metric tons, showing a 13 percent year on year increase.

In addition during the January-September 2007 period, Belon's enrichment plant Belovskaya produced 2.298 million metric tons of coking coal concentrate.

Furthermore, Belon announced its investment program aimed at raising its production capacity of coking coal. The key aspect of this program is construction work at Komsomolskaya mine, which is expected to start mining operations by the second quarter of 2008.
