In the second quarter of 2010, Belgian hot rolled coil
production came to 2.36 million metric tons, rising by 86 percent year on year and up 9.4 percent compared to the first quarter of this year, while its cold rolled coil
production surged 88 percent year on year to 1.29 million metric tons, up 1.57 percent quarter on quarter, according to the Belgian Steel Federation (GSV).
In the given period, Belgian steelmakers produced 1.05 million metric tons of
coated sheets, up 53 percent year on year and up 4.8 percent quarter on quarter, while their output of steel
plate came to 162,000 metric tons, 60 percent higher as compared to Q2 2009 and up 32.79 percent quarter on quarter.
In Q2,
Belgium's
stainless steel output stood at 393,000 metric tons, increasing by 62 percent year on year and up 11.33 percent quarter on quarter.
