Belarus to produce its own scrap in 2007

Russian sources report that the Belarusian government has placed a government order for the collection and stocking of 1.25 million metric tons of scrap in 2007. Previously, the Belarusian steelmakers used mostly Russian scrap. For instance, in 2006 Belarus imported 1.5 million metric tons of scrap from Russia.
