Shanghai-based Chinese steelmaker Baoshan Iron and Steel Co. Ltd (Baosteel) has announced that it signed an agreement with Shanghai-based Jiangnan Shipyard on June 25, to supply its independently researched and developed VLGC (Very Large Gas Carrier ship) low temperature shipbuilding plate to Jiangnan Shipyard. Baosteel will thus become the first domestic enterprise to supplying VLGC low temperature shipbuilding plate in bulk, breaking the monopoly of foreign steel producers for this type of steel.
