Baosteel to invest RMB 2.09 billion in environment protection in 2012

Chinese steel giant Baosteel Group has stated that it plans to invest RMB 2.09 billion ($330 million) in energy saving and environment protection in 2012, concentrating on sintering desulfurization, advanced treatment and recycling of coking waste water, utilization of solid waste, among other areas.

In China's 11th five-year plan period (2006-10), Baosteel spent RMB 4.02 billion ($640 million) on 346 projects aimed at saving energy and reducing emissions.
