With technical support from Baosteel Group, Ba Yi Iron & Steel Co., Ltd's cold rolled mill has succeeded in producing cold rolled S550 high strength steel after nearly one year's research and development.
S550 high strength steel is a cold rolled sheet product of thin specification and high strength made of common low carbon full hard coil. It mainly used as galvanizing and coating plate, and can be processed into high strength color roofs for buildings, wall panels and other products. Currently, only a few domestic steel mills in China are able to produce cold rolled S550 high strength steel.
Ba Yi Iron & Steel commenced trial production of the product in question last August. With the help of experts from Baosteel Group, Ba Yi Iron & Steel's technicians succeeded in trial rolling 35.38 mt of S550 high strength steel products at the end of July. According to inspections, both the counterwork and yield strength of the S550 high strength steel reached 550 Mpa.
