ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih, Ukraine-based subsidiary of the world's largest integrated metals and mining company ArcelorMittal, has announced that in 2010 it will invest UAH 235.7 million (about $29.7 million) in environmental protection.
In January-June 2010, ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih's investment in environment protection totaled UAH 111.2 million ($14 million), which equals 25.1 percent of total investments in technical re-equipment of the enterprise's fixed production assets (UAH 443.3 million, i.e. about $55.9 million), including capital construction which cost UAH 108 million ($13.6 million), and capital repairs which cost UAH 3.2 million (about $403,327).
Comparing to January-June 2009, the investments in environment protection increased by 1.8 times.
