Brazilian steelmaker ArcelorMittal Brazil has agreed to buy 57 buses now out of operation from JR Diesel, for the purposes of scrap metal production, according to a media report. ArcelorMittal should generate about 1,100 mt of steel from the purchase.

If successful, ArcelorMittal will consider the acquisition of another 2,500 buses to transform them into scrap for steel production.

Currently, Brazilian demand for scrap is higher than the product’s supply in the country.
