ANDRITZ to supply heat treatment plant for Turkey’s Kardemir

Germany-based international technology group ANDRITZ said on September 19 that it will supply a heat treatment plant for Turkish steelmaker Kardemir's new wheel manufacturing line. The line will produce up to 200,000 high-grade railway wheels per year for high-speed trains.
 
Press supplier Schuler, a member of the ANDRITZ group, will be the system supplier for the entire line which has an order value of around €90 million.
 
Kardemir is one of Turkey's major steel producers with annual production capacity of 3 million mt and manufactures among other products rails and points for high-speed railroad tracks. Turkish Railways had announced previously that it plans to increase the extent of the high speed railroad network in Turkey to cover 10,000 kilometers by 2023.
