AK Steel hikes carbon steel surcharge

Middletown based AK Steel has recently announced that it increases surcharge on carbon steel products to $120 per ton to be in effect for the shipments as of May 1, 2004, following the increase on surcharge of electrical steel sheet and strip products. April surcharge on carbon steel products was $97 per ton. The new surcharge is determined based on change in costs of raw materials, such as energy and scrap.
