AK Steel & ATI announce September surcharges

AK Steel and ATI Allegheny Ludlum have advised their customers of September surcharges for their products. AK Steel announced a $157/short ton ($7.12 cwt., $173.06/metric ton) surcharge would be added to invoices for flat rolled carbon steel products shipped in September 2005. Also, a $50/nt ($2.27 cwt., $55.12/mt) surcharge will be added to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in September 2005. AK says they used the July 2005 cost of raw materials to determine their September surcharge. ATI announced a surcharge of $160/nt ($8.00/cwt., $176.37/mt) would be added to silicon electrical steel invoices. Like AK Steel, ATI’s surcharge is based on monthly adjustments for changes in raw materials costs.
