AK Steel announces May surcharge on electrical sheet

Middletown based AK Steel has recently announced new surcharge on electrical steel sheet and strip products as $150 per ton to be effective for shipments as of May 1, 2004. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, the latest surcharge on electrical steel sheet and strip implemented by the company was $90 per ton. This surcharge was effective for shipments as of March 1, 2004. It is stated that, the new surcharge is adjusted based on changes in cost of raw materials, such as energy and scrap.
