Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) announced this week that is has invested $6.1 million in a new access terminal to its Steel 2 blast furnance, featuring five industrial scales with a unit capacity of 120 tons, three modules of access, egress and inspection, and two roofed areas for scrap radiation detection.

Alonso Ancira, Chairman of the Board of Directors of AHMSA, said the terminal will process 85 percent of the load that enters and leaves the company, a total of 550 trucks per day.

Ancira said during the ribbon cutting ceremony that the terminal, which will prevent the previously-heavy flow through the urban areas of Monclova and Frontera, is located at the place known as "ground zero" and was installed on 7 acres now paved, with staff offices for Industrial Protection, Truck Service, Warehouse and Billing Raw Materials.
