Acheng Steel suspends production due to accident

Harbin, Heilongjiang Province-based Chinese steelmaker Acheng Iron and Steel Co. (Acheng Steel), a subsidiary of Xigang Steel Group, has announced the suspension of all operations pending investigation of an accident at its blast furnace No. 1.
 
On January 16, an explosion caused by a gas leak occurred at blast furnace No. 1 of Acheng Steel. One person died in the accident, while 31 others were injured. After the accident, an investigation was initiated by the relevant local authorities, while the company has idled all its production lines.
