Spanish stainless steel producer Acerinox S.A. has reported a net loss of €8 million for the first quarter this year, compared to a net profit of €31 million in the corresponding quarter of 2015, as a consequence of the difficult market situation and the continued fall in nickel prices, while its net sales came to €953 million, declining by 16.7 percent year on year, due to the low final prices in all markets.
In the first quarter, the company's hot rolled product output increased by 0.4 percent to 526,400 mt, while its cold rolled product production totaled 418,064 mt, rising 5.8 percent, both compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
