Chinese steel pipe export offer prices remain stable

During the week ending October 14, average Chinese steel pipe export offer prices have moved sideways. At present, export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $560-650/mt FOB, while export offers for API 5L welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $515-545/mt FOB, December shipment.

During the given week, ferrous metal futures prices in China have moved up, exerting a positive impact on sentiment in the steel pipe market. However, market participants have started to feel pessimistic as regards the future market prospects due to the approach of the winter season.

Rebar futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) stand at RMB 3,618/mt ($537/mt) on October 14, up RMB 58/mt ($8.6/mt) or 1.63 percent from September 30.
