According to several East coast sources close to SteelOrbis, the scrap buys in their region during the September buy cycle “have been very light.”
Most East coast scrap deals moved consistently with the Midwest scrap deals at a decline of $20-25/gt ($20-26/mt) compared to the previous month’s settled prices across most scrap grades. Unlike the Midwest, though, with price declines of $20-25/mt compared to the previous months’ settled prices in deals on shredded scrap, prices on shredded scrap on the East coast declined $11-16/mt.
A source noted that dock prices on the East coast on HMS I are presently at $250-260/gt ($254-264/mt) FAS.
* Top number denotes change from the bottom of the previous month’s range and bottom number denotes change from the top of the same range in mt terms.
