Since SteelOrbis’ report published on January 13, Turkish mills have continued to follow diverse strategies for their domestic scrap procurement prices. It is observed that two mills have increased their domestic scrap quotations by TRY 200-340/mt or $18-28/mt. However, some producers have reduced their prices by TRY 70-420/mt or $2-28/mt. Other mills have kept their lira-based prices stable in this period, with a $2-3/mt increase in their dollar-based prices.
The general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has remained at TRY 5,900-7,150, while prices on US dollar basis have been revised from $433-525/mt to $436-528/mt.
