The downtrend which started last week in Turkey’s ship scrap market has continued in recent days against the backdrop of the decreases observed in the short and deep sea scrap segments. Accordingly, Izmir-based Turkish mills have reduced their ship scrap purchase quotations by $10-15/mt as compared to the levels recorded on January 15. Currently, the general range of ship scrap purchase quotations in Turkey is in the range of $440-448/mt. The ship scrap flow at Aliaga in the Izmir region is still strong, according to market players.
