Most Turkish steel producers have decided to revise their local scrap purchase prices upwards on lira basis. However, due to the weaker exchange rate those mills who have increased their prices by TRY 10-30/mt have seen their US dollar-denominated price levels decline by $1-3/mt over the past week. The scrap purchase prices of the mills who attempted a TRY 60/mt hike have also climbed by $6/mt on dollar basis. Still, there are some mills taking their time to make the necessary corrections, but they are expected to do so shortly as their purchase prices have slid by $3-6/mt, SteelOrbis understands.
