Turkish mills’ domestic scrap purchase prices soften further

Thursday, 26 September 2019 12:09:16 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Another decline in import scrap prices in Turkey, seen in the latest transactions, has as expected influenced Turkish mills’ local scrap purchase prices, which have lost TRY 20-85/mt in the national currency since last week depending on the scrap grade and the producer. However, in fact, on US dollar basis, the purchase prices have slid by $2-14/mt due to the current exchange rate. “The declines in mills’ scrap purchase prices over previous weeks were considered to be sufficient for the time being, but now new revisions are possible since some of the key steel producers have reduced their scrap purchase levels,” one source believes.
