Turkey remains interested in short sea scrap cargoes

Turkey remains interested in short sea scrap bookings with new deals closed. A Marmara region-based Turkish steel producer has recently closed a deal for 2,000 mt of HMS I/II 80:20 from Bulgaria at $257/mt CFR. In the sale, the price for HMS I/II 80:20 from this source has inched up by $2/mt. In the meantime, the workable level for scrap from Romania and the Adriatic region is estimated at $258-259/mt CFR Turkey.

The most recent A3 scrap offers from Russia’s Rostov region have been reported at $260/mt CFR, though no fresh deals have been heard.

In addition, according to market sources, a Turkish mill has bought 4,000 mt of HMS I/II 75:25 from Israel at $238/mt CFR. Some negotiations are also continuing with sellers of Libyan scrap.
