Tokyo Steel reduces scrap buying prices at one site

On December 7, SteelOrbis reported Tokyo Steel decreasing H2 scrap purchase prices in early December. Prices were reportedly at JPY 30,500/mt ($270/mt) at the Tahara site, JPY 29,500/mt ($261/mt) at the Okayama site, and JPY 31,500/mt ($279/mt) at the Utsunomiya plant, all prices delivered to customer.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that the Tahara and Utsunomiya plants are trending stable with domestic H2 scrap purchase prices but that the Okayama plant has decreased its prices by JPY 500/mt. Prices are now reportedly at JPY 30,500/mt ($269/mt) at the Tahara site, JPY 29,000/mt ($256/mt) at the Okayama site, and JPY 31,500/mt ($278/mt) at the Utsunomiya plant, all prices delivered to customer. The Tahara and Utsunomiya plants decreased $1/mt on currency fluctuations while the Okayama plant decreased $5/mt.
